Sophie’s World II

Well I have to admit now I actually like this book, at first it kind of creeped me out about the guy or girl who is just randomly dropping notes in her mailbox. And the whole time wondering if we will ever find out who he or she is. Anyway right now I have finish the Renaissance and Baroque chapters which we rather interesting. I like how it not only told you about these famous philosophers and astronomers but also told you a little reasoning behind why they conducted certain experiments. For example Galileo Galileo, a famous astronomer, discovered gravity but the way Alberto makes Sophie think of something so simple as to which direction the marble is going to roll, and then makes her think of why Galileo would do such a simple experiment if he was so smart. One criticism would be it sometimes just around to quickly from one person to the other that I have to go back and make sure I know who said what.

I also liked how there was a lot of back up information on certain philosophers and scientists thinking. I like how these chapters demonstrate how Alberto makes Sophie ponder certain aspects in her quest to learn philosophy.
